A–L
- Aliquot — a measured sub-portion of a solution, split off so the parent stock is disturbed as little as possible.
- Amino acid — the building block of peptides and proteins; twenty standard amino acids occur in biological sequences.
- Bacteriostatic water — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, used in laboratories to prepare solutions in vials sampled more than once.
- COA (certificate of analysis) — the batch-specific document reporting identity, purity, and content for a manufactured lot.
- HPLC — high-performance liquid chromatography; the separation method used both to purify peptides and to measure their purity.
- Lot / batch number — the identifier tying a specific vial to the production run and COA it came from.
- Lyophilization — freeze-drying; water is removed under vacuum at low temperature, leaving a stable dry powder.
M–Z
- Mass spectrometry (MS) — measurement of molecular mass, used to confirm a peptide's identity against its theoretical mass.
- Net peptide content — the fraction of a vial's gross weight that is actually peptide, as opposed to bound water and counter-ions.
- Peptide bond — the amide bond linking two amino acids; the backbone link of every peptide chain.
- Purity — the main-peak area percentage from analytical HPLC; the fraction of the sample eluting as the target compound.
- Reconstitution — dissolving a lyophilized powder into a liquid to produce a laboratory solution of known concentration.
- RUO (Research Use Only) — a legal designation: the product is a laboratory reagent, not for human use in any form.
- Sequence — the ordered list of amino-acid residues that defines a peptide.
- Solubility — how readily a compound dissolves in a given solvent; sequence-dependent for peptides.
RESEARCH USE ONLY — NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Products are laboratory reagents for in-vitro research by qualified professionals. Sale for human use is strictly prohibited. Nothing in this guide is medical advice or dosing guidance.
